Introduction

Dr. Vikas Sharma, is currently working as an assistant professor at Graduate School of Agriculture, Kyoto University, Japan. He has obtained B.Tech. degree in Civil Engineering with Honours from Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay), India. Subsequently, he obtained Ph.D. degree in Agriculture Sciences from Kyoto University. His current research focuses on developing Multi-scale Finite Element Methods to investigate fluid behavior near the fluid-soil interface. This method is based on the theory of homogenization and variational multi-scale methods. This research can connect the microscopic and macroscopic phenomena in a porous medium. I am also developing the space-time finite element method for soil dynamics and earthquake engineering.
